RE: How Much Retirement Income Do You Need?
I believe we only need 30% of our pre-retirement income to live comfortable in retirement. I come to this conclusion is based on personal experience. We are one income household. My wife is fulltime student. We have three children (15, 12, & 8). And we live in Orange County, California. Since reading the book ?Cashing in on American Dream, retire at age 35 by Paul Terhorst? early in life, and listen to Dave Ramsey, we live on $36K very comfortable in Orange County, CA. With $36K, it is enough for us to pay our property tax (mortgage free home), house insurance, car insurance (3 pay for cars) and $2300 to spend on food and necessity. The other 70% of our income is for income tax, SS tax and retirement saving. I believe anyone can live on $100.00 per day if they want to. I believe we do not need 70-80% of our income to live in style. I believe Retirement dream is still alive. We need to believe on it.
