>> Hi I'm Chris Delulla assumed spelling CBS MoneyWatch intern and college senior who's facing a pretty tough job market. I hope I'll be able to afford my own place after graduation. Fingers crossed mom and dad but these days it seems I'm the exception, not the rule.
>> Its easier to move home instead of trying to get your own apartment.
>> Yes I do plan on going back home. I'm actually looking forward to it.
>> So why do you think so many students move home after graduation?
>> Maybe because there's no jobs. That's the problem. It's hard to get a job.
>> Well you're already in like so much debt with loans most students so you want to start paying that off the best you can even if in some cases don't even have a job when they get out of college so between those 2 things money is tight when you first graduate and a lot more kids are moving home now.
>> I'm just about broke and I'm about to graduate so it's time to pack it up and go back and spend some of mom and dad's money a little bit, as bad as that sounds but it's true.
>> Yep, grads seem pretty excited to have mom and dad pay for their bills for awhile but don't worry parents most students I know have a great time while they're at college so the thought of moving home has its disadvantages too.
Background music
>> Most of the time if it's your parents' house it's their rules.
>> You're under the same rules again you're being told you know like don't put your elbows on the table kind of thing and it's just like listen before I was eating like Taco Bell on my bed, making a mess like and I have to listen to the rules again, it's a very hard transition to make.
>> And parents you'll be happy to hear that most students I talked to said its fair to set a deadline and then you can give us a boot.
>> Like a year after they graduate college it's like alright what are you doing with your life you need to figure it out.
>> I would say at least a year after college.
>> Not more than a year.
>> At some point you gotta cut the cord be like you saved enough, go find an apartment. I would say no more than a year especially if you have a job. I think you should get out and they should push you out too.
>> So in the mean time cut us some slack and dad pizza's great but next time I'm home will you make me dinner?
